Florida lays claim to the oldest and possibly the most charming city in the nation, St. Augustine. Founded in by Spanish admiral Pedro Menendez in 1565, it is the oldest occupied city/port in the U.S. History buffs might enjoy spending the day at Florida Museum Of Natural History in Gainesville.
